Practice Info
The NDC offers practices starting Saturday, April 19, 2008 until September 30, 2008. Click here for a calendar of events for the 2008 season. At the right are links to an Excel document, updated daily, so that each team can see when they are practicing.
Practices will start at 5 minutes past the hour and end on the hour. Teams will be assigned to specific boats beforehand to prevent mass rushing of the docks (safety issue) and allow for a more equitable division of boat types. Practice times up to June will be Monday to Friday from 5:05 p.m. ending at 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. July to September we will run the same hours, but eliminate the Friday and Sunday practice times.
For 2008, the NDC will not be running 90 minute sessions. The exception to this will be if two teams book so that there is no time lost (i.e., team A 6:00-7:30pm, team B 7:30-9 p.m.)
Long Weekend and Black-Out Periods
We have several dates over the season that we will not be offering practice times.
- May 17-19: Victoria Day Weekend
- June 17: moving boats and docks to Island site
- June 20-22:, TIDBRF
- June 23-27: Week off
- June 28-30, July 1: Canada Day Weekend
- August 1-4: Caribana and Civic Holiday
- August 30-31, Sept. 1: Labour Day Weekend
There are also a few days of note that we will be running practices, but other events may affect our paddlers ability to get to the practice site
- May 10: Outrigger race at Marilyn Bell Park
- June 14: MEC Paddlefest at Sunnyside Beach
- July 17-20: Dragon Boat Canada National Team Trials
- August 24: Argonaut Rowing Club Regatta
- August 15 - Sept. 1: Canadian National Exposition
